The darling boyfriend sent me this link from Huffington Post-

Apparently, Silkie chickens are ALL the rage this season. Perfect dream pets! Were all feeling so stylish now....

Gotta laugh, gotta smile! Reina has been feeling the star power & loving on the Silkies lately, too.

When it comes to chickens, I am fascinated.

People who have known me for a while have learned to tolerate my OCD (obsessive chicken disorder) or just ignore it all together-- trying to get me to focus on other subjects, like work, current events, or where to go to dinner.
Meh.

I know those things are kinda important, but sometimes I just want to see photos of cute chickens!!! Especially happy chickens.

And, I also like to hear when humans are happy, too.

I received these pics the other day from a very cool lady who had purchased chicklets last year. I remember when she came to visit, and got some very precious little chickies, but never could have imagined she would become such a fabulous friend & chicken mommy! Yay!

She wanted to give me an update & share the love, which I greatly appreciate. Blessings!!

These photos are ADORABLE!!!!!

I recommend you look at these pics at least every hour for instant happiness.

What a wonderful day.

I just can't seem to let go of the littlest chicklets. I want to keep them pristine, sweet & beautiful forever!!  I know it can't compare to actual parenthood, but I am still trying my best to protect them from the elements for as long as I can. Scary things like rain, wind, mud... they are so trusting and adorable. All they want to do is snuggle. So I set up their mini condo outside, yet protected from the rain. I can see them, they are safe, and it's a temporary solution.
I think I have until Daylight Savings before the darling boyfriend tells me ENOUGH. He has been so tolerant & changed the sprinkler system settings so cutie-pie baby chicks don't get sprayed at 3am.

The big chickens are well adjusted & used to being outside. Laying like crazy, broody all the time. Yet they still squak! at the geese flying by in the mornings, bok! at the big dogs on their rounds, all in a days work I guess . Today they are in the courtyard weeding...one day these little fluffers will be there "on the job", too.

Shakin' the broodies

I decided to take a solo vacation & see the family. My littlest chicks are being taken care of by my wonderful friend "Mother Hen" in Sonoma. They will be spoiled rotten.
The darling boyfriend agreed to do some feeding of the big chickens while I'm away, but I also recruited my friend Stephanie to come help out. She's a big chicken fan :)
I told her that it would be an easy job, just spend time with them, feed, water, and collect the eggs. I'd be back in a few days.
Then I mentioned she might need to shake the broodies in the corner. She was confused, so I went right out to the coop & shot this video.

If you visit napa, will you go see my chicken?

Last week I got to visit with my wonderful rooster Pistol. I cried a little bit. Happy tears.
He was adopted about a year ago & became a chicken prince! He lives at Castillo de Amorosa Winery in Napa Valley. It is a beautiful castle & Pistol roams the property with other exotic birds.
I haven't seen him since the day he left the farm (it was raining outside, very sad & dramatic) and I wondered how he was doing. So my darling boyfriend took me to the castle to see Pistol. It took us about 20 minutes to find him (just as I was beginning to fear the worst) But....

Chillin' in the vineyard
He was so big! So healthy! Wandering around the vineyard by the parking lot. I kneeled down & he came over. He wouldn't let me pick him up like the old days, but he seemed very happy. I was so surprised to see him walk around so proud & pose for pictures with visitors. It was crowded at the castle & he just cruised around the tourists, visiting, clucking. People stopped to take pictures of my chicken! Very proud.
